About

I first got into fantasy baseball about twelve years ago, and it didn’t take long for that competitive fun to turn into something deeper, a full-on dive back into the world of baseball I loved as a kid. A good friend and I would spend hours talking about the game, trading stories, and reminiscing about those classic afternoons spent ripping open packs of baseball cards. We started a group chat with another buddy in which we all complete Immaculate Grids and then talk about the choices. It’s something I look forward to daily.

Even though the era I grew up with is often called the “Junk Wax Era,” to me it was magic, full of the kind of joy that had nothing to do with card values and everything to do with loving the game. This was before internet and social media, games were on the local channels and watching This Week in Baseball and Sportscenter were the highlights of my day. On the weekend, I would mow the lawn for a couple bucks to run down to the local store and grab some packs of cards. Yes, packs were less than a dollar in the 80s and 90s.

A couple of years ago, I noticed more pack-opening videos on social media and felt that old nostalgic spark again. I launched my own page, rediscovering the simple thrill of baseball card collecting and all the stories that come with it. I found some of my old cards stuffed away in forgotten card boxes, kept safe in yellowing top loaders, and the joy blossomed. From there, an idea started to take shape.

That idea became Weekly Windup. Asite dedicated to celebrating baseball history through cards, collectibles, and the unforgettable moments that make the game great. Whether it’s opening a pack, reading about players of old, or solving an Immaculate Grid, I’m always chasing that same feeling I had as a kid.

I’m not a historian, and although I’ve been a fan of baseball for over 40 years, I was never an expert of the game. I am a fan, and I appreciate the role baseball has played in American history. As an adult, I am finding a childlike joy in learning about the players of old, before social media, subscription channels, cable TV…hell before TV even! The players, the stories, the nostalgia, it’s just so much fun. That joy is something I want to share with others, one fan to another, and so the journey begins.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy Weekly Windup: Where Every Pack Tells a Story!
